I write this post in the hope that the search engines to index correctly the title and help some poor wretch like me has to face the arduous undertaking to drill the kitchen sink.
In my case I needed to drill the button to apply the sink disposal unit, but it has the same need to mount an additional tap, such as filtered water.
So, first procuriamoci the right tools:
- A drill with the ability to adjust the speed
- A tip for metal 12mm
- A hammer
- A wrench
- The most "special" this thing:
is located at IKEA for fifteen euro, in a package along with a little "cutter" who knows, you may need in the future . I was also informed
drill hole for the steel, but between the tip and the spindle, the cost is more or less the same, and after using the "thing" I doubt that IKEA aims to produce a cup can result so perfect!
You start by creating an "invitation" to the point where we'll use it with the drill: take the bit by itself, place it in the center of the future court dates and with the hammer down a good club. Repeat the process until it forms a permanent seat for the tip to avoid that when it rotates in the drill if they go around. Do not give shots in bursts: the steel bends and the tip is likely to bounce back and change your place every time, creating a trail of microgroove instead of a nice set. Replace the tip and then with each hit.
